Directions for those using their own transport


Please use the following instructions:


South

  • From Bristol M4/M5 Take the first turning off after the intersection onto the M48 in the direction of Chepstow.
  • Cross the old Severn Bridge and take the first exit thereafter, to Chepstow.
  • At the roundabout take the second exit to Tintern, Wye Valley (A466 and proceed through the Wye Valley until you reach Redbrook.
  • At the end of the village of Redbrook, turn right just before the bollards to Newland by Bush House Osteopaths, signed to Newland and Clearwell.
  • As you enter Newland go past the Ostrich Inn on your left.
  • Immediately past the Church on your right turn right into Almshouse Road and The Coach House is on the left.

North

  • From the M5 take the M50 and when the M50 turns into the A40 at Ross-on-Wye, continue on to Monmouth.
  • On the approach to Monmouth, go over the roundabout and at the next set of traffic lights, turn left onto the A466 in the direction of Chepstow and Tintern.
  • Take the second exit off the roundabout (by Lidl’s) and after 2.5 miles you enter the village of Redbrook.
  • Take the next left by Bush House Osteopaths to Newland and Clearwell.
  • As you enter Newland go past the Ostrich Inn on your left.
  • Immediately past the Church on your right turn right into Almshouse Road and The Coach House is on the left.

From Gloucester


Take the A40 in the direction of Ross-on-Wye.


At Huntley, you will come to a “T” junction governed by traffic lights - Turn left here onto the A4136 towards Coleford.


Follow this road though Longhope, Mitcheldean, Brierley and eventually, you will come to a cross-roads and traffic lights with a Nissan Garage (Five Acres Garage) on your left.


Keep straight on towards Monmouth and next you will see cross roads.


Go straight and take the next left turning to Newland.


Go to the bottom of this lane and cross over the major road.


Keep going down the winding road, past the quarry and at the foot of this road, where you do not have priority, turn left opposite a farm yard.


Continue into the village of Newland and as you enter Newland go past the Ostrich Inn on your left.


Immediately past the Church on your right turn right into Almshouse Road and The Coach House is on the left.


From Newport


From Junction 24 of the M4 continue on the A449/A40 towards Usk and Monmouth.


After approx 20 Miles you will come to a set of traffic lights in Monmouth - Continue through these traffic lights and at the first roundabout double back on yourself heading back towards the traffic lights.


At the traffic lights,turn left onto the A466 in the direction of Chepstow and Tintern and take the second exit off the roundabout (by Lidl's).


After 2.5 miles you will enter the village of Redbrook and take the next left by Bush House Osteopaths - signed to Newland and Clearwell.


As you enter Newland go past the Ostrich Inn on your left.


Immediately past the church on your right turn right into Almshouse Road and The Coach House is on the left


Directions for those using public transport


The nearest bus service operates from Coleford which located 2 miles from Newland (details can be obtained from the Visit Forest of Dean web site. The nearest train service operates from Lydney which is located 6 miles from Newland (details can be obtained from National Rail).


Other Information In the Coach House you will find local reading material together with a folder containing tourist information so that you can plan your stay and you can also obtain a local leisure guide by clicking here. There are a number of public footpaths accessible within Newland and by driving a couple of miles down to Redbrook on the River Wye and walking across the footbridge ( disused railway bridge), you will find a large number of footpaths on the Welsh side of the Wye.


We have equipped the cottage with maps for your use. However, you can order various maps, walking and cycling guides in advance via the Forest of Dean website. We hope that you enjoy your stay and welcome any comments you wish to make so that we can maintain our high standards.
